Ladakh, a word means "Land of High Mountain Pass". Situated at one of the remote mountain regions of Indian Himalayas. Covered with snow for 7 months in a year and disconnected to the rest of the world during harsh winters, Motorcycle Tour in Ladakh makes one of the perfect adventure destinations for Motorcycle enthusiasts. Ladakh is famous for its snow-capped Himalayan ranges, high altitude mountain passes with the average height of 4000Mtrs above sea level, the coldest desert, and fantastic landscape.

Ladakh is also called the Land of passes, offering one of the most spectacular mountain views of Indian Himalayas. During this Motorcycle tour in Ladakh, we are going to cover some of the important high altitude mountain passes. We are going to ride through Fotu La pass(4100Mtrs), Changla Pass(5360Mtrs), Khardungla Pass(5359 Mtrs) and TaglangLa pass(5328 Mtrs). 

Also, we will ride to the world-famous Pangong Lake and Tso Moriri lake in changthang plateau.

Overview

During this "Ladakh Motorcycle Tour," we are going to ride to Turtuk and Dah Hanu villages of Ladakh. Both are strategically and most beautiful villages in Ladakh. Turtuk is one of the remote villages situated in the northernmost part of  Ladakh. Turtuk lies in the Baltistan region and is one of four such villages in India. The residents of Turtuk and its adjoining villages speak Balti language along with Ladakhi and Urdu. 

Dah Hanu, They are the only two villages that tourists are allowed to visit out of several Brokpa villages, They are said to be the descendants of the original Aryan or Indo-European race and are famously known as the 'Last Aryan Villages of India. Legend has it that when Alexander, the conquerer, came to the Indus Valley and then moved on to Beas, he left a few of his clansmen behind who settled down here

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1 - 
Arrive in Leh

On day one you will be picked up from Leh Airport. Upon arrival at Leh, you will be checked into the hotel and just relax for the rest of the day. 

 

We gather again in the evening for briefing, where you will be introduced to our Crew member, followed by dinner. 

Day 2 - 
Leh to Biama (Dah & Hanu Village) 

Miles - 125

On the first day of the "Ladakh Motorcycle Tour," we will start our journey towards Biama village, Biama is situated 125 miles from Leh and it is one of the village settlements of Drogpas. Before riding there we will also visit the Lamayuru monastery. The journey towards Biama is spectacular; we will be riding on the average height of 3500Mtrs. We will also cross the first mountain pass of "Ladakh Motorcycle Tour", that is  Fotu La pass at 4100Mtrs. By early evening we will reach Biama. 

Day 3 - 
Biama to Leh 

Miles - 125

After exploring the Aryan Valley, we will start our ride towards Leh. Today we will ride through some of the Aryan Villages like Dargoo, Skurbuchan & Damkhar. Also en route, we will visit Alchi and Likir monasteries. These are one of the oldest and most prominent Buddhist monasteries in the region. By evening we will reach Leh.

Day 4 - 
Leh to Pangong Lake 

Miles - 97

After exploring Aryan Valley our Ladakh motorcycle tour continues towards Changthang plateau. We will cross multiple check post where we will submit Inner Line Permits and proceed towards Chang La Pass, which is the third-highest motorable road in the world at the height of 5360Mtrs. After ascending from Changla Pass, we will enter Changthang Plateau and ride towards Pangong Tso Lake. Pangong Tso lake is situated at the height of 4350mtrs, it is 83 miles long and extends from India to Tibet border. We will be staying at Spangmik Village for the night.

Day 5 - 
Pangong Tso Lake to Nubra Valley (Hunder)

Miles - 110

After spending a night at Spangmik, we will start our Ladakh Motorcycle Tour towards Nubra Valley, which is the coldest desert in the Himalayan Region. We will be riding through Shyok river Via Durbuk. Most of the roads after Durbuk is off the road with a river bed and multiple water crossings en route. We will reach Hunder by early evening, where we will visit Camel desert safari to see Double Humped camel which is originated from Mongolian Desert. 

Day 6 - 
Hunder to Turtuk 

Miles - 55

After exploring the coldest desert, day 6 on Ladakh Motorcycle Tour continues towards Turtuk Village. Turtuk a tiny farming village nestled between snow-topped mountains in India's far north-western region of Ladakh. Probably one of the beautiful villages in Nubra valley, surrounded by Apricots and barley farming is an important source of income. It is situated next to Shyok River, Turtuk is one of the few places in India where one can witness Balti culture, It is the last major village where tourist activity is allowed before the Line of Control with Pakistan.

Day 7 - 
Turtuk to Leh 

Miles - 78

After exploring Turtuk, We start our ride towards Leh after crossing "Khardung La Pass- The worlds Highest Motorable road" Situated at the height of  5360 Mtrs. Khardungla is historically important as it lies on the major caravan route from Kashgar Central Asia during ancient times. Crossing Khardungla Pass is one of the key highlights of our Himalayas Motorcycle Tour. By early evening we will reach Leh and the rest of the day can be utilized for shopping. 

Day 8 - 
Explore Leh 

Miles - 30

Today we ride to explore the local places in and around Leh like we will be visiting Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery, and shey palace. It's going to be half-day excursion and we will be back to Leh by noon. The rest of the day you can spend on shopping or taking a walk on the streets of Ladakh.

Day 9 - 
Leh to TsoMoriri

Miles - 130

We will ride today to Tsomoriri Lake, which is situated at the height of  4500Mtrs in Changthang Plateau of Ladakh Region. It is one of the remote and least explored regions in the Himalayas. It is the largest of the high altitude lakes entirely within India and entirely within Ladakh in this Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region.  It is also a home of nomads called "Changpas" while riding to Karzok village we will witness a lot of them on the way. After riding for about 8 hours we will reach Karzok village, which is the base for Tsomoriri Lake. 

Day 10 - 
Tsomoriri to Leh

Miles - 145

After exploring Changthang Plateau, we will start our last day of  "Ladakh Motorcycle Tour" towards our base camp Leh. We will take a different route today, this will be the most difficult stretch of  Ladakh Tour, the road from Karzok to Debring is full of gravel and off-road. After reaching Debring we will cross Tanglang La Pass at the height of 5328Mtrs, it is the Second Worlds Highest Motorable Road. By evening we will reach Leh. We will meet again for farewell dinner and exchange photographs of the tours. 

Day 11 - 
Departure from Leh

We will bid goodbye to Ladakh Motorcycle Tour and after breakfast, we will drop you to the airport towards your onward journey, hoping to ride with you again in the road less traveled soon.
